Position Overview
The Director of Avionics & Electrical Engineering will lead the engineering teams tasked with the design, development, and implementation of advanced avionics systems and electrical components for our aircraft products. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and standards while driving innovation and efficiency in avionics design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the avionics and electrical engineering teams in the design and development of avionics systems for our aircraft.
  • Manage R&D direction to maintain industry leadership in avionics and system integration.
  • Oversee the integration of software and hardware components, ensuring seamless functionality and compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery of avionics projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications for new aircraft designs.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and industry best practices throughout the development process.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of ongoing projects to assess progress and implement improvements as needed.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in avionics and electrical engineering to drive innovation within the team.
  • Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders and manage, develop, and motivate employees.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced engineers and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Avionics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace or avionics / related industry.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing in person and remote engineering teams and projects.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and certification processes.
  • Familiarity with CFR Part 23/25/27/29 and ISO9001 practices.
  • Familiarity with avionic, electrical, software and wire harness design tools.
  • Experience with software development processes and tools relevant to avionics applications.
  • Experience with Integrated Flight Decks
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Private or commercial rated pilot a plus!!
